Function/purpose of position: Volunteers will match incoming calls for assistance with the appropriate JFCS services/programs,or refer callers to an outside agency that may offer the assistance we cannot provide.
Summary of Duties & Responsibilities: Intake volunteers are the first point of contact that a person encounters when calling for assistance. The Intake volunteer's responsibility is to assess if any of the programs or services JFCS has in place can help the caller. If so, the caller will be referred to the proper person/department within JFCS. If the Intake volunteer determines the caller is better served outside of the agency, the caller will be referred elsewhere. Unite Us will be used whenever possible.
Training: Volunteers will be trained on the various programs and services JFCS has to offer as well as the outside services available if our agency cannot meet their needs.
Qualifications: This role must be able to work independently using compassion and acute listening skills. Abackground in referral placement is helpful. An understanding of the Unite Us platform is preferred but training will be available.
Policies & procedures: The organizational procedures must be strictly followed. There are no leadership roles or responsibilities outside the independent role of the volunteer. All volunteers report directly to the Development department.
