ORGANIZATION: FINESSE OUR MINDS; (FOM;)

We are looking for motivated and engaging individuals who have relevant experience, or are willing to gain relevant experience, in Human Resources and are capable of conducting Orientation sessions for individuals who are interested in volunteering or working with our mental health organization. As the Orientation Session Facilitator, you will be critical in welcoming and educating potential volunteers and staff members about our organization's mission, values, and services.

After the onboarding process, applicants are required to commit to and attend compulsory 10-week orientation sessions, which are held on each Sunday from 5:30 am PST to 9:30 am PST. We already have set systems and templates to follow (orientation slides, surveys, task lists, and tasks), which we will train facilitators in. Facilitators should ensure that the sessions they host are engaging, especially since they are virtual!

The goal of the Orientation sessions facilitator(s) is to effectively conduct the 4-hr sessions on Sundays and ensure that new applicants are well versed in everything about Finesse Our Minds organization and aware of everything expected of them by the end of the orientation period.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set accurate expectations for applicants during the entire orientation session. (For example, everyone in attendance must keep their cameras on and contribute to the sessions because they are interactive virtual sessions).
  • Conduct the 10-week orientation sessions for new applicants to introduce them to the organization's mission, values, and services.
  • Create a friendly environment for new applicants to feel welcomed and appreciated during the orientation sessions.
  • Send out task lists to orientation session attendees.
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator and HR department to ensure all applicants are properly screened and trained.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendees and follow up with potential volunteers and staff members as needed.
  • After an applicant completes the entire 10 orientation sessions, you are expected to report their name back to the onboarding system.
  • Provide an overview of our policies, procedures, and expectations for volunteers and staff members.
  • Attend team meetings and senior meetings, as required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Possess good verbal and written communication, email etiquette, the Internet, and MS Office.
  • Open to working with different people from different cultures.
  • Able to follow instructions and training.
  • Comfortable on camera, in live meeting situations, and communicating with many different types of people in live webinars, coaching sessions, and Q&A forums.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A problem-solver, leader, and team player.
  • An independent thinker who can work through problems on the fly and is confident to make decisions and changes on your own.
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision and attend video conferencing meetings whenever needed.
  • Passion for mental health and a commitment to our organization's mission.

Description

  • Finesse Our Minds is a non-profit organization founded in May 2019 by a millennial, L.Finesse Humxn, who realized the importance of spreading awareness and preventing the negative effects of dark thoughts after surviving multiple suicide attempts.
  • It's natural for people to experience dark or negative thoughts from time to time - and we encourage owning our feelings! However, if these thoughts become persistent and intrusive, they can impact our mental health and well-being.
  • L.Finesse’s personal experience with dark thoughts has inspired the organization's mission to promote awareness and education on the reality of dark thoughts and their negative effects (such as mental health struggles and suicidal/self-harm tendencies) in young people worldwide and empower them to transform their lives through constant peer support and life-saving resources.
We encourage all volunteers to be proactive in spreading awareness. Share our mental health survey with five people you know and join our Discord server to provide free 24/7 peer support.

Join us at Finesse Our Minds and help us create a world where mental health support is accessible and stigma-free. Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Note: Please be aware that some of our roles may involve sensitive topics. We provide support to all individuals without discrimination and expect the same from our volunteers.
