Families In Schools (FIS) envisions a public education system where students have all the opportunities and resources necessary to succeed in school and in life. We recognize the value of strong family-teacher-school partnerships in supporting student achievement. Consequently, we provide programs and professional development that fosters authentic family engagement by building the skills, knowledge and confidence of both parents and staff on how to work together. We seek a team prepared for lifelong learning, and active engagement in the civic life of our society. Guided by this belief, the mission of FIS is to involve families and communities in their children's education to achieve lifelong success. FIS is a nonprofit, community-based organization headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, California.

Currently, we are looking for students who are interested in being a part of our Training and Capacity volunteer teams. In this role, you will be supporting our Director of Training and Capacity Building and engaging in various activities to support our curriculum and Training department
Launch Next year.

Responsibilities will include:

• Researching and collecting relevant data to update our curricula with current statistics and resources.
• Representing student perspective on some of our focus groups, here you will be collaborating with a team of part-time facilitators/trainers and parents/guardians to ensure that our work reflects community voice and diverse perspectives
• Partnering with our Advocacy Director and communications team to strategically outreach to interested families and other students to join our focus groups

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in Education, Curriculum Development and Project Management.
