Job Title: Pierz Courier Service Volunteer

Supervisor: Volunteer Coordinator

Hours: Monday- Friday 3:45pm-4:45pm; 1 hour commitment

  1. Position Description:
    1. This person will serve as a volunteer driver who will deliver and/or pick up supplies, prescriptions as needed from Family Medical Center to the Pierz Clinic. Volunteer will hold a valid driver’s license type "C".
    2. Primary tasks:
      1. Start at Family Medical Center and get the bag of supplies anywhere from 2-3 p.m. depending upon the day. (Supplies are found right around the corner of the FMC in the first office in back of the reception desk)
      2. Travel to Pierz
        1. Clinic- Go in building & drop off a bag for the nurses. Wait for a few minutes in the lobby until nursing staff give to you a "return bag".
        2. Return supplies back to Family Medical Center to the front reception desk staff. Always "hand deliver" the bag/bin to a staff person and let them know these are the return supplies from the Pierz Clinic. Why? Live specimens need to be refrigerated or worked with immediately.
      3. Complete mileage and expense forms for proper reimbursement as well as to turn in insurance and license renewals to the Volunteer Coordinator.
      4. To notify volunteer department in the event of any accident or personal injury.

  1. Performance Requirements:
    1. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL: Volunteer must exercise confidentiality. Volunteer must be able to read and follow directions. Must be dependable. Above all, must have good driving record and law-abiding standards as well as pass physical tests for driver’s type "C" license.
    2. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have good physical health.
  1. Non-performance Requirements:
    1. Supervised by and responsible to Volunteer Department.
    2. Volunteer hours to be recorded.
    3. All papers must be sent in, (insurance, etc.) yearly, renewable valid driver’s license.

  1. Additional Information:
    1. If the volunteer is involved in an accident while driving for St. Gabriel’s Health, health insurance coverage is provided to the volunteer. If you should have an accident while out providing a service for the healthcare campus and you become hurt, as you already know, you need to let our office know immediately so health insurance coverage can be provided for you.

  1. The gas mileage reimbursement is determined by IRS standards.
