Childcare is a key resource we provide, as it is often a barrier that keeps these writers from connecting.By volunteering childcare for one of our workshops, you directly enable writers to participate in a writing community, express themselves, and find their voice.
We are looking for childcare volunteers now and ongoing - talented, engaged members of the Portland community who are passionate about Write Around's mission and would like to assist us with this vital function.
Workshops meet 2-hours each week for 10 consecutive weeks. Workshop cycles begin in September and February. We are also always in need of finding more volunteers that are willing to provide childcare for our workshops and at our community readings as well.

Description
Write Around Portland holds free creative writing workshops in hospitals, prisons, schools, treatment centers, low income residences, homeless shelters and social service agencies. Our workshops are based on respect, writing and community. Twice a year, we publish books of participants’ writing and hold public readings where participants share their writing with each other and with the greater community.
