Job Summary:
Kumbatio is currently seeking a PR and Marketing Manager to join our team and drive the organization’s public relations and marketing initiatives. If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic and passionate team while contributing to creating a positive impact on the lives and future of children in need, then this position is for you!
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive PR and marketing strategy that raises awareness of Kumbatio's mission and initiatives
- Plan and execute media outreach and public relations campaigns to generate positive coverage and increase the visibility of the NGO
- Create and distribute engaging content across multiple channels, including social media, email, and the Kumbatio website
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create marketing materials, including brochures, presentations, and other promotional materials
- Manage the organization's online presence, including the website and social media accounts, to ensure a consistent and compelling brand image
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in PR and marketing to continuously improve the organization's PR and marketing efforts
- Bachelor’s degree or currently enrolled in Marketing, Communication at an HBO/university
- Good written and verbal skills in both Dutch and English
- Having no fear of reaching out to people in any way
- Result-oriented
- Creative
- Independent and having strong project management and organization skills
- Passionate about Kumbatio’s mission and commitment to providing children in need with a safe home and opportunities to achieve a positive future.
- Experience (study/work background) in PR/marketing and with social media management, content creation, and website management

Stichting Kumbatio was established with the vision that every child in the world has the right to grow up in a loving and supportive home, whether with their parents, other family members, or in a temporary home where their interests always come first, which enables the child to achieve a positive future. To achieve this vision, we offer children in Thika, Kenya a solid foundation and environment, by offering them a safe home, allowing them to enroll in education, giving them the attention and care they need, helping them process their traumas, and helping them reintegrate back into their family. Kumbatio stands for safety, trust, responsibility, self-reliance, respect, honesty, helpfulness, curiosity, and transparency.
Description
Stichting Kumbatio is a Dutch licensed NGO that offers a solid foundation to children who don't have a safe 'home' in Kenya with a view to brightening the outlook of these children’s future. To align with our mission statement, we offer the children without a safe 'home' a temporary 'home' in 3 years with us at Kiota children's support center. Our dream project 'The Kiota Dream' will give us the space we need!
It is crucial that each family contributes to the child upbringing. However, we often deal with children whose parents are not around anymore, thus the child’s custody will eventually be given to other family member(s). We want to make sure that the particular member(s) can take good care of the child. This care consists of mental, social care, and basic needs. Therefore, we have developed a program focused on self-reliance for the family member(s) called 'Family Planning and Empowerment’.
The fundraising activity "Walk with Kumbatio" held in 2020 and 2021 successfully raised more than 40000 Euros! We raised funds by traveling through the route in Thika of about 10,000 kilometers. Participants can do this by travelling a certain distance from their home, either by walking, cycling, running or in any other sporty way, which will finally be aggregated. The goal is to virtually finish in Kenya at the end of the sponsor activity.
