This is an in-person volunteer opportunity with students in the greater Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond, San Lorenzo, or Castro Valley area.
Apply NOW to be ready for our group programs in JUNE, we have 7+ group opportunities AND 1:1 tutoring through the summer.
Community Education Partnerships (CEP) provides individualized tutoring and mentoring services to pre-K through 12th grade students experiencing housing insecurity and once stably housed. CEP Tutors are a consistent and caring presence in the life of our students, fostering a deep love of learning and ensuring they are set up for academic success.
As we work with Shelter and Transitional Home Partners, we are seeking volunteers to join our team of in-person tutors for one-on-one tutoring and group enrichment program support. Social distancing, masks, and enhanced hygiene measures are required. All volunteers must be fully vaccinated and must complete a two-hour Mandated Reporter Training. Students’ families are also required to be fully vaccinated in order to be eligible for in-person tutoring. Training, tools, and virtual options are provided.
As a volunteer tutor with CEP you will:
- Work 1-on-1 or small group with a student(s) for at least one hour a week
- Provide hands-on enrichment activity support in a group setting
- Help our students develop their literacy and academic conceptual skills
- Have fun!
No teaching experience required and anyone over the age of 16 can volunteer (minors need adult background check). Session times are flexible and all of the necessary training is provided. Students range from pre-K through high school and are matched with tutors based on age and grade preferences.
Those who speak Spanish are encouraged to apply!
