Mission Statement

The mission of ION is to build and develop youth into entrepreneurs. This mission will be accomplished by providing employment, mentoring relationships, and recreational and academic opportunities to these students.

Description

It's Our Neighborhood is a nonprofit youth development organization located in St. Paul, Minnesota. An area where because of the rise in violent crimes, kids struggle finding safe places that mentor and develop young adults to become entrepreneurs. In our neighborhood there has been 29 homicides, 249 people raped, 593 robberies, and 1,020 assaults. So the goal of It's Our Neighborhood is to help these youth discover their gifts and talents by building relationships, mentoring, and providing them strong role models that they might otherwise not have. We are currently doing this at our resource center in St. Paul, MN.

We work with high-school students from underprivileged areas of St. Paul and provide them employment, recreation, classes and workshops. These programs and services that It's Our Neighborhood offers include the following:
* Entrepreneurial mentoring
* Business classes and workshops
* Academic and social programs
While the young adults are using the organization's programs and services, they will also gain weekend and after school employment as employees of a cleaning company owned and operated by It's Our Neighborhood. To be eligible for employment with the company, students must be enrolled at and attending high school classes and maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average.
