Do you want to support refugee community? ECAC is a non-profit, non-political refugee resettlement organization, that supports the refugees from all around the world to start their new chapter in lives in Chicago. We are looking for a volunteer tutor, who could visit our client's house to teach English. Our client lives near Sheridan and Howard in Roger's Park, and cannot attend classes because she has young daughter. Mission Statement

The Ethiopian Community Association of Chicago (ECAC) is a non-profit, charitable organization committed to serving the cultural, psychological and socio-economic needs of refugees and immigrants in and around metropolitan Chicago. In addition to assisting native Ethiopians, the ECAC supports all African, Asian, Middle Eastern and Eastern European refugee populations who seek its services. Established in 1984, ECAC assists in the promotion of personal growth, financial stability, positive family and community relations, and community empowerment. The adjustment and development of all of ECAC’s constituents is facilitated with programs in the areas of advocacy, education, employment, healthcare and community outreach.

Description

ECAC activities include: Refugee Reception & Placement; Employment Services; Match Grant (MG) program; Child and Youth Development; English as a Second Language (ESL); and Preferred Communities (PC) program; Citizenship and Immigration Services.
