Want to make a difference in other people's lives in your community?
How about getting some great experience in the health care field while receiving LOTS of appreciation and a personal sense of pride?
Interested in making new friends and expanding your skills to help those in need?
Then come volunteer at MedStar Health's Good Samaritan Hospital or Union Memorial Hospital!

We have lots of great opportunities all year round:

  • Welcome and greet our patients, visitors and guests with a friendly smile!
  • Help people find their way around the hospital and to their appointments with kindness and a joyous spirit!
  • Make crafts and bring comfort items to patients to help them pass the time and stay positive!
  • Play or sing soothing music for our patients and visitors!
  • Donate these items to keep our patients happy and engaged: new crayons, colored pencils, magic markers, coloring books, puzzle books, magazines, novels, nail polish, emery boards, combs, readers, gifts of knitted blankets, scarves or mittens.

  • Orientation or Training
  • At least one four-hour shift per week, for at least 40 hours on a regular basis
  • Application, background check, two letters of recommendation (from non-family members), health clearance (MMRV immunization records, negative TB within last 6 months, fully Covid vaccinated, seasonal flu shot during flu season), orientation yearly.
