The Health Trust delivers meals and groceries to homebound seniors and adults throughout Santa Clara County. Our HIV/AIDS Services and Meals on Wheels programs is in need of volunteers to help deliver groceries to our clients. For many of our clients, the volunteer drive is the only person they may see all day or even all week. Volunteer Drivers enable many older adults to remind independent and bring peace of mind to family and friends.

Volunteer Driver- Deliver groceries and/or meals to our homebound HIV/AIDS Services clients, seniors, and people living with disabilities throughout Santa Clara County. Our volunteers pick up pre-prepared meals or groceries between 9:45 and 11:00 AM on their assigned morning. Once the items being delivered are loaded up, they go out and deliver. Most routes take about 2 -3 hours and have +/- 8 spots. Pick up for the meals/groceries happens centrally in San Jose, at our Jerry Larson Food Basket located near downtown San Jose.

Requirements: We ask volunteers to make a commitment of a minimum of 6 months . We do this because it is a fairly expensive process to bring a driver on board, with the background check and training. 18+, online application, onboarding forms, valid driver’s license, auto insurance, reliable car, interview, orientation, and ride-behind. Volunteers are responsible for the background check fee, which can be refunded upon completion of minimum commitment requirements.

Mission Statement

Our Mission: To build health equity in the Silicon Valley.

Description

Our Vision:

The Health Trust believes every Silicon Valley resident should have the opportunity to live a healthy life.

How:

We at The Health Trust believe that if Silicon Valley is a community where innovation is changing the world, then it also can be a community where innovation changes the lives of everyone - especially our most vulnerable residents - for the better.

As we strive to make our vision reality, we reflect the values of Silicon Valley. When we tackle a problem, we take the broad view. We rely on expertise, partnerships and best practices to generate solutions that will have the greatest impact on those we serve. We invest in projects that are sustainable, show measurable results and provide the greatest return on investment for the community.

With a strong emphasis on prevention, we focus our work through three initiatives: Healthy Living, Healthy Aging and Healthy Communities. Through direct services, we are helping one person at a time. And through policy advocacy and grantmaking, we are changing the local environment to promote healthy eating, healthy aging and healthy living.
