Volunteer for The Salvation Army

We are seeking volunteers to assist with youth programs at the Chula Vista Corps (community center).

Purpose/Goal of Position: To assist with the execution and creation of fun and educational program for youth at the Chula Vista Corps (Community Center.)

Qualifications/Skills/Certifications Needed:

  1. Prior experience in group instruction or teaching preferred.
  2. Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and participants.
  4. Prior experience in working with minors preferred or currently obtaining a certificate in child base education.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Provides support to the Youth leader to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment. Assists in planning and preparation for daily activities, aids instructional efforts and assists the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas.
  2. Promote activities to youth at The Salvation Army Chula Vista Corps Community Center.
  3. Responsible for overall set up and cleanup of activities.
  4. Supervise activities for youth, with first priority in their safety, at all times following The Salvation Army’s safety policies for working with minors.

Time Commitment: Tuesday’s and/or Thursday’s 3 PM- 6 PM. Must be willing to commit for a minimum of 3 months.

Please Note: We are NOT accepting court ordered community service volunteers or volunteers under the age of 18 for this position.


2 Shifts

  • 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM
    Must be able to volunteer on Tuesday's for a minimum of 3 months.
  • 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM
    Must be able to volunteer on Thursday's for a minimum of 3 months.
