Each season Asolo Repertory Theatre relies on the generosity of more than 400 volunteers to assist with performance ushering, audience services and behind-the-scenes support. Volunteer ushers hold a special place in the Asolo Rep family. They are vital to the patron’s experience. A volunteer Ushers' main duty is to ensure that the patron has an enjoyable experience.
Responsibilities Include:
- Greet patrons with a smile and a welcoming comment.
- Be courteous, tactful, outgoing and friendly.
- Be an ambassador for the theatre both inside and outside of the workplace.
- Treat patrons with respect and kindness.
- Seat patrons quickly and accurately.
- Offer programs to patrons.
- Assist patrons with disabilities.
- Understand the layout and seat numbering of the Mertz and Cook Theatres.
- Understand evacuation procedures and location of emergency exits.
- Must be able to move quickly and maintain composure in emergency situations.
- Must listen and accurately answer questions in areas with background noise.
- Must be able to read small print in low lighting.
- Must be able to stand for an extended amount of time.
