ORGANIZATION: Compassus Hospice

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 11 people are interested

Compassus Hospice is looking for people to make handmade pillow cases specifically for our patients at the end of life. A beautiful pillowcase can provide comfort and peace for both the patient and family and what a wonderful honor it is to give them a patriotic pillow to lie their heads on. Would you like to contribute to this project? If so, please email Kim Iannacci @ kimberly.iannacci@compassus.com or call (978) 273-7289 for more information. We would love for you to be a part of our crafting volunteer team!

Mission Statement

At Compassus Hospice, our mission is to preserve each patient’s dignity while removing the fear associated with dying through pain management, emotional and spiritual support. We deliver our care services wherever our patients call home, whether that home is a private home, an apartment, an assisted living community, a skilled nursing center or, in some cases, a hospital. Our service area includes Newburyport down to Revere, Ayer, Westford, Lowell, Haverhill, Salem, Malden, Medford, Stoneham, Peabody, Andover/N. Andover, Chelmsford, Wilmington and Billerica to name just some of the towns.

Description

Compassus Hospice volunteers play a vital role in carrying out our mission to preserve each patient’s dignity while removing the fear associated with dying. Individuals who are 18 and older who are willing to share one to four hours per week are encouraged to apply to our program. Serving as a volunteer will enrich your own life in ways you can’t begin to imagine.

No previous experience in the medical field is necessary, and you will be prepared for your role with a free, comprehensive training program. This training will help you learn how to provide emotional support, companionship and respite care to patients and families.
