POSITION DESCRIPTION

Help under-resourced adults achieve new goals! Partners in Change (PIC) trains volunteers in life coaching skills then pairs them 1:1 with individuals pursuing personal and professional goals.

Our Volunteer Recruitment Specialist VISTA is a key member of our team, expanding PIC’s volunteer recruitment at companies, faith houses, and civic groups, growing PIC’s community presence, supporting our volunteer applicants, and informing our volunteer marketing effort.

As an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, you will serve PIC in this 1-yr. (renewable) position, receive a living allowance (currently $675/bi-weekly, $17,550/year) and a strong VISTA benefits package.

In this role, you will support the growth and larger impact of this innovative non-profit founded in 2019. You will be led by a diverse management team possessing a wealth of experience with key Atlanta community and nonprofit organizations.

You will gain additional professional development as you participate in weekly Team Meetings and one-to-one meetings with staff leadership, Coach trainings, and staff skill-building as we support our coaching teams. You will gain valuable knowledge and experience from your personal interactions with volunteer coaches and community members.

You will be at the heart of all we are doing as you support PIC’s long-term vision to enable personal, social, and economic upward mobility and substantially reduce inequities in our communities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Help design the growth and larger impact of PIC as a key member of our collaborative, mission-driven team of six staff and three VISTAs.

· Welcome interested volunteers, introduce them to PIC’s asset-based coaching model and ensuring prompt follow-up through their application process.

· Grow PIC volunteers’ skills in our non-directive, asset-based coaching method focused on building resiliency and confidence.

· Strategically research companies and civic/faith organizations committed to poverty reduction, racial equity, and/or social justice.

· Collaborate with PIC team on recruitment plans for current and new Volunteer Partner Organizations (VPOs).

· Maintain VPO and volunteer recruitment outreach and databases, ensuring up-to-date action management.

· Present to VPO employees/members interested in volunteering. Regularly communicate and ensure prompt follow-through with VPO staff to deepen partnerships and increase recruitment.

· Represent PIC in the community. Attend community events and network at community forums focused on corporate and civic engagement in south and west Atlanta to build awareness of PIC and our program.

Partners in Change (PIC) takes coaching's track record of success for executives and brings that to adults in poverty, empowering them to change the trajectory of their lives.

PIC pairs trained volunteer coaches with adults pursuing meaningful goals in areas such as employment, housing, education, personal development, and health. Paired teams talk weekly for a year as one-to-one partners in the community member’s success.

· Prospect research skills

· Excellent database skills and time management, and strong follow-through and attention to detail

· Comfortable speaking in front of a group

· A belief that every person has unlimited potential and the right to personal development, self-empowerment, and forward progress in their lives.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL ALSO HAVE:

· Experience working with the communities we serve

· Existing connections within corporate, civic and/or faith communities


COMPENSATION

As an Americorps VISTA volunteer (Volunteers In Service To America - https://americorps.gov/about/what-we-do), you will receive a monthly living allowance, currently $675/biweekly, $17,550/year. VISTA focuses on building capacity for non-profits, so this position offers the satisfaction of building something lasting and powerful for PIC. Your service will help us provide free coaching to a critical mass of community members and create a tipping point in Atlanta’s efforts to reduce poverty.

Note: this position is funded for one year through the AmeriCorps VISTA program. An option exists to extend for an additional year, and possible further extension.
