Virginia Discovery Museum

Start the year off right by exploring new ways to get involved with your community. The Virginia Discovery Museum is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to work at our front desk 2.5 hours each week. Consistency and reliability is especially important for our Front Desk Volunteers, as you will be the first person welcoming families into our space. Be the face of the museum as we welcome over 70,000 visitors annually, 15% through our Sponsored Admission Program, which eliminates financial barriers to entry. Form relationships with VDM members and let out-of-towners know what you love about Cville! We can’t wait to meet you. Vaccination against Covid is required.

MOST NEEDED SHIFT TIMES:

M-S 9:30-5:00

Shifts are 2 hours minimum

Skills Needed:

  • comfortable socializing and helping visitors of all ages and backgrounds
  • light multitasking
  • training in operation of front desk point of sales system

Description

The Virginia Discovery Museum is a hands-on children's museum for youth to enjoy learning and playing with their families. In addition to permanent child-based exhibits for visitors to explore, the Virginia Discovery Museum also holds a number of educational programs and special events throughout the year. With the Sponsored Admission program developed in collaboration with local schools, social service agencies, cultural institutions and governing groups, VDM aims to be a resource for as many families in the Charlottesville community as possible.
