Because of you I laugh a little harder, cry a little less, and smile a lot more.

Being a Compeer volunteer is as easy as being a friend

Do you have an hour a week to have a cup of coffee with someone in need of a friend?

Compeer volunteers spend four hours a month being a friend to someone who is lonely, anxious, or depressed. Our clients are in mental health recovery and need a caring, supportive friend. Volunteers and clients go for walks, watch a sports game, have lunch together, play Bingo, do a shared hobby - the opportunities to spend time together are endless!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for people recovering from mental illness through the power and gift of friendship. We train caring, sensitive volunteers to be in 1-on-1 friendship connections.

Description

Compeer believes that friendship is powerful medicine. Many individuals recovering from mental illness find it difficult to make new friends or maintain a healthy social life. But the support of a friend can make all the difference to a person struggling with anxiety, depression, or isolation.

Compeer connects volunteers with individuals who need a friend. Volunteers meet with their match one hour each week, doing activities that both friends enjoy.
