Social Media Specialist (Twitter)

We are looking for a social media specialist to join our Comms team. You will be responsible for creating social media campaigns and the day-to-day management of the organization’s Twitter account.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, a versatile creative writer, and a team player.

The North Alabama Zoological Society is volunteer-run and this is a volunteer position. There is an understanding from the organization that the selected volunteer will be using their own free time to accomplish the tasks of this position and their ability to commit time will vary. The organization only expects follow-through on the tasks the volunteer has agreed to perform in the time agreed upon.

Job Function (duties and responsibilities):

• Developing social media content plans
• Creating consistent, meaningful content, writing and editing social media posts, improving follower engagement, and promoting social media campaigns.
• Communicating with social media followers, including responding to queries in a timely manner.
• Suggesting recommendations to adjust the social media marketing strategy for optimal results.
• Staying up to date on best practices and emerging trends in social media.

Education/Experience:

• Degree or equivalent experience

Skills Seeking:

• Must embrace the mission of the North Alabama Zoological Society
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must have a thorough understanding of social media management and strategy.
• A creative thinker with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven experience with MS Office and design software.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Be organized and exhibit "follow through" on tasks and goals.
