Program Coordinator - Digital Fundraising Focus

A Free Bird is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization that is fully remote. Our organization provides children affected by cancer the opportunity to explore their artistic passions. Artistic expression has been proven to play an instrumental role in the healing process. We support them with a range of self-expression through art, music, acting, poetry, writing, singing and other creative mediums. Job Summary:

As the Program Coordinator at A Free Bird, you play a pivotal role in supporting the organization's fundraising initiatives by educating and directing fundraising program volunteers. Reporting directly to Human Resources and the President on a weekly basis, you will assist with fundraising efforts aimed at increasing brand awareness and growing our community of donors. Your objective is to spread our message and encourage our community of supporters to make donations to A Free Bird from various sources such as GoFundMe, Amazon Smile, fundraising campaigns, advertising, and more.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning and management of digital fundraising initiatives, focusing on online platforms such as GoFundMe, Amazon Smile, and social media campaigns. This involves developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to maximize donor engagement and drive donations.
  • Write grant proposals and manage endowments to secure funding for A Free Bird's programs and initiatives. You will be responsible for crafting compelling proposals and effectively managing donor relationships to ensure sustainable funding streams.
  • Collaborate with staff and other volunteers on digital fundraising efforts, including coordinating social media campaigns, email marketing, and online events. Your ability to work collaboratively and delegate tasks effectively will be crucial in achieving fundraising goals.
  • Work with the fundraising team to prospect and solicit major and corporate donors, as well as identify potential business partners as sponsors for digital fundraising initiatives. Your clear understanding of nonprofit needs and strong communication skills will be essential in building strategic partnerships.
  • Increase communications with supporters and current donors through digital channels, including email newsletters, social media updates, and virtual events. Your creativity and enthusiasm for creating engaging content will help foster stronger connections with our donor community.
  • Assist in creating and implementing the A Free Bird digital fundraising plan, contributing creative ideas for new fundraising opportunities in the digital space. Your ability to think outside the box and innovate will be instrumental in driving fundraising success.
  • Submit quarterly reports on digital fundraising activities, outcomes, and future strategies. Your analytical skills and attention to detail will ensure that fundraising efforts are effectively monitored and evaluated.
  • Hold mandatory weekly meetings with the Department Director and team to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies for digital fundraising efforts. Your ability to maintain open communication and collaborate effectively will be critical in ensuring alignment and achieving fundraising objectives.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a related field, with a focus on digital fundraising and online campaigns. Your track record of implementing and analyzing results-oriented initiatives will demonstrate your ability to drive fundraising success.
  • Degree in Management, Administration, or Fundraising preferred. Your educational background will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in this role.
  • Ability to supervise and delegate tasks to volunteers, with a clear understanding of the unique needs of nonprofit organizations. Your leadership skills and dedication to quality and success will inspire and motivate volunteers to contribute to our fundraising efforts.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for creating and implementing digital fundraising campaigns and ideas. Your innovative thinking and passion for making a difference will be evident in your approach to fundraising.
  • Experience with event planning, grant writing, and/or donor management in a digital fundraising context. Your familiarity with fundraising best practices and tools will enhance our fundraising initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills required for engaging with strategic affiliates and donors through digital channels. Your ability to effectively communicate our mission and impact will inspire support and donations.
  • Familiarity with virtual fundraising platforms and CRMs, such as Salesforce NPSP, is preferred. Your proficiency with these tools will streamline fundraising processes and improve efficiency.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work well independently.
  • Analytical thinking skills and a strong and dedicated work ethic are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

*Internships are unpaid and for credit only. If you are not receiving college credit for this internship you will not be eligible.

Additional Information

This position requires a three month commitment and at least 5 - 10 hours per week.*

*Mandatory commitment is based on position level.

Due to COVID-19, we are 100% remote.

Proper at home working capabilities include laptop, phone, and connection to reliable internet connectivity. Must be available to have a phone/video conversation at least twice per week.
