ORGANIZATION: San Jose Public Library - Educational Park Branch Library

Educational Park Branch Library is seeking a Storytime Assistant to help with Saturday morning, Music and Movement programs (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM)

Give children the joy of reading by helping librarians with their storytimes. Saturday storytime is a Music & Movement program for ages 0-5 and their caregivers. The program occurs in the Community Room with the Children's Area next door where children and caregivers read, play, and wait for storytime.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with storytime setup and breakdown
  • Assist with crowd control (collecting storytime tickets, manage community room doors, and guiding families to appropriate spaces)
  • Assist with distributing and collecting storytime props and materials
  • Reset room for second storytime session
  • Bilingual volunteers in Mandarin, Vietnamese, and/or Spanish would be a plus

Commitment: Saturdays, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM; six-month minimum

  • Qualifications:
    18+, fingerprinting required
  • In-Person Online Volunteer Training
