**Please note, previous national service experience is required to apply for this position**

Service Description: The AmeriCorps VISTA Legal Economic and Educational Advancement Project (LEEAP) at Fordham Law School’s Feerick Center for Social Justice (FC) aims to expand the capacity of FC and partner organizations to promote the rights and address the problems facing marginalized and low-income New Yorkers.

As the VISTA Leader, you provide programmatic support to a total of four (4) projects: two (2) at the Feerick Center and two (2) at other community-based sites. Our projects primarily work with volunteer attorneys who provide civil legal services to low-income New Yorkers with unmet legal service needs. You will gain broad exposure to the NYC/NYS legal community, including the courts, the organized bar, pro bono providers, and legal services organizations. This is an ideal opportunity for professional growth at a premier law school located in midtown Manhattan.

VISTAs serving at the Feerick Center must live within commuting distance (1.5 hrs) of Manhattan, NY before their service start date. This position employs a hybrid model with at least three days in the office at Fordham School of Law. This model is subject to change during your term of service as per the Feerick Center’s requirements.

Member Duties: Our VISTA Leader supports six (6) VISTA members across three (3) sites to encourage their professional development and support the success of their projects. You will have a hand in member recruitment and selection, orientation and training, project progress data collection and reporting, professional development and teambuilding, and supporting sustainability of the projects. If you are passionate about social justice and fighting poverty, enjoy working collaboratively, communicate effectively orally and in writing, are super organized and pay attention to detail, this position is for you. Bring your creativity as a trainer and team leader and your experience as an exceptional National Service participant to this wonderful opportunity.

The VISTA will have monthly check-ins with FC senior staff, monthly grant management meetings with VISTA Supervisors, weekly grant management meetings with senior FC staff, bi-monthly FC staff meetings, manage monthly professional development workshops, develop and lead mid-monthly presentations, and opportunities to attend various academic programs and training sessions. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone considering a career in public interest law.
