The Homebound Delivery Program is one of the newer ministries at the Peter Maurin Center which started up in the fall of last year. It runs on the first and third weeks of the month, twice a month. We pickup an order of food from the Akron Canton Food bank, delivery it to the Peter Maurin Center, unload it, organize it for packing and then pack the food into two separate bags, one for perishables, and the other non-perishables making it ready for delivery. Each delivery 'order’ contains between 25 and 35 pounds of food. Drivers arrive between 11am and 11:30am and we assist in the packing of their vehicles with the correct number of bags they then deliver to Homebound area residents. We create a total of about 40 deliveries.

Volunteers Help by:

  • Unloading Food from the box truck and organizing the food: 9am - 9:30am
  • Packing food for Door Dash Delivery: 9:30am - 11:30am
  • Assisting drivers in packing their vehicles
