We are in need of caring and compassionate people who are willing to spend time with our terminally ill hospice patients. Our patient's have a prognosis (life expectancy) of six months or less. They often find that they're just not able to do the things they used to. Sometimes they find themselves more depressed and need a friend. Hospice volunteers bring joy and comfort back into the lives of our patients and their families.
Volunteers can:
-Help with house work
-Help with yard work
-Run errands for our patients
-Provide respite (stay with the patient while the caregiver leaves to run errands or have a break)
-Socialize
-Play games/watch movies
-Help them record their life stories
-Pray & read scriptures with our patients and their families
-Help with other tasks as needed
The type of assignment depends on what our hospice patients really need at the time.
We have 12 hours of state mandated training. This includes getting a TB test done as well as a background check completed.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
Come volunteer with us! It will be one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things you do. Our patient's reach out to volunteer's for help because they're overwhelmed, overburdened, and they just can't do the things they used to do. There's nothing like helping those who really need it.
