The Caring Place provides day care for individuals with Alzheimer's Disease and other dementias. Volunteers bring extra energy, ideas, and motivation to the program. They can offer warmth and support to program participants and their families.
Volunteers provide socialization, assistance with activities, feeding, ambulation, and independence.

Shifts are Monday thru Thursday. Critical need is for Monday's and Wednesday's. Half days are available

Mission Statement
The Mission of The Caring Place, Inc. is to support participants and their families with the highest quality respite care program as they deal with the effects of again and various forms of dementia. The Caring Place serves all persons without regards to race, color, religion, creed, national origin, gender, disability, marital status, or economic means.
Description
The Caring Place is an Adult Day Care Center serving individuals who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, dementia or other related cognitive deteriorating diseases. We are a ministry of First United Methodist Church and began in 1992 . We are licensed for up to fifty daily participants, four days a week, six hours a day. Our facility has a large activity room, kitchen, dining rooms, sick room, chapel, quiet room, offices and a fenced outdoor patio area. The facility is secure to ensure our participant's safety.
Goals:To provide an alternative to institutional settings; therapy in a safe and supportive environment; crisis intervention, respite, and family support, assistance and training. To assist participants in maintaining their current level of functioning while promoting independence and self esteem
SERVICES PROVIDED
Exercise, self-awareness and self-esteem, socialization, group participation, a feeling of accomplishment, and utilize skills participants still have by engaging in various activities.
Movies, crossword puzzles, guessing games, table games, bingo, crafts, storytelling, gardening, birthday and holiday celebrations, or sing-alongs.
Assistance is provided with personal hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and toileting as needed.

- Volunteering is, as it says, volunteer. We appreciate all that you can give. We do ask for 3-6 hours for each volunteer day. Days and times are according to your personal/professional schedule.
- Because we are licensed by the State of Arkansas, we require the same paperwork as we do for staff.
