The purpose of this event is to expose over 250 local South LA and Watts high school juniors and seniors to college representatives, and financial aid workshops in preparation to apply for college. In addition to supporting our youth’s educational and financial future, we will support students with Prom-associated products as this milestone event can cost over $1,000 per student. We will need support styling, organizing, and matching the right outfit for our participants. This is an all-hands-on-deck!

Mission Statement
Founded in 1906, Children’s Institute is the largest agency of its kind working to transform the lives of children exposed to adversity and poverty in Los Angeles.
Description
Far too many children are impacted by persistent poverty and toxic stress. Untreated trauma from neglect, abuse and violence can have lasting consequences on young bodies, brains and futures. Children’s Institute provides early education, behavioral health and family strengthening services to 26,000 children and families each year. We also train professionals and caregivers in trauma-informed care, evidence-based clinical treatment, parenting and fatherhood.
