ORGANIZATION: Harbor Hospice

  • 1 person is interested

At Harbor Hospice we would like to recognize our patients that have served their county. We are becoming certified with "We Honor Veterans" to honor our veterans. The program is a collaboration between the National Hospice and Palliative Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Its purpose is to care for and honor those who have served when they reach end of life. As part of the program, we recognize Veterans with a "Pinning Ceremony" monthly, where their military service and sacrifices made by the Veteran and his/her/their family are publicly recognized. They receive tokens of appreciation, a certificate of appreciation and a brass pin. Interested volunteers would help staff present the certificate and pin to Veterans who are receiving care from Harbor Hospice and spend time sharing their experiences in the armed forces. We have patients all over Houston. Please consider helping us recognize the enormous contribution Veterans make, with your time and talent! Please contact Cheyenne Sipps at (832) 374-0725 for more information.

Description

Harbor Hospice is dedicated to providing care and comfort to a terminally ill patient and their family. We provide the highest quality of care possible by employing a team of healthcare professionals to administer comfort and supportive care to individuals.

Harbor Hospice strives to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of patients and family members who share the emotional trauma of a terminal illness. Harbor Hospice is committed to educate the community and increase awareness of the hospice concept of care among medical professionals, lay persons, clergy and those in need of a compassionate approach of care.

Harbor Hospice admits patients without regard for race, religion, national origin, ancestry, marital status, disability, sex or sexual preference. The admission criteria does not deny admission or service to people with communicable diseases including, but not limited to HIV, MRSA, and Hepatitis B.

Harbor Hospice will provide services to the terminally ill in their home, wherever home may be. There are times when caring for a loved one at home is simply not possible. When symptoms cannot be managed at home, or when families are having difficulty coping with an in-home death, Harbor Hospice's inpatient facility will provide care in a warm, homelike setting. The beautiful, serene, inpatient facility will offer the comfort of home while providing round-the-clock, expert medical care.
