Our Hospitality House of Tulsa program utilizes 14 Family Suites / Apartments where our guests stay while their loved ones are in the hospital or receiving outpatient treatment. Since opening our two facilities in 2006 and 2011, it is now time to do some intentional updating, repairs, and redecorating. We need small teams of skilled volunteers who can provide quality repairs and decorating to make our guests feel welcomed and cared for.
Position Duties Include: Home Repairs are needed in our family suites that range in conditions. Hospitality House of Tulsa is looking for volunteers who have the following experience.
Not all experience is needed as volunteers will be assigned projects based on skill, but some experience is required by each small team:
- Professional or personal experience in home renovations/ home repairs
- Minor plumbing repairs (ex. Sink snaking, toilet replacement etc.)
- Minor electrical trouble shooting (ex. GFCI’s)
- Drywall work
- Painting
- Carpentry
- Design and Decor
- Patience and sensitivity
All volunteers will be required to complete the following before engaging in repairs:
- Background check conducted by Hospitality House of Tulsa
- Volunteer liability waiver
Because Hospitality House runs at near 100% occupancy each night with a waiting list, it’s important that when we take a family suite down for repairs and refreshing, that we perform the work in an efficient time frame. We prefer to only have one family suite/apartment down at a time. We are estimating that it will take each team working together about 8 - 16 hours to refresh and redecorate one family suite/apartment. The work can be divided over a 2 week time period where work could be done either during the week or over 2 weekends.
Our present budget allows Hospitality House to provide supplies which include:
- Plumbing fixtures, faucets, towel racks, mirrors, etc.
- Paint
- Furnishings of furniture, dishes, utensils, some artwork,
- Equipment of TV, Phone, dorm size refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee maker.
Volunteers will need to provide:
- Labor
- Tools
- Some décor items for walls, shelves, etc.

Hospitality House of Tulsa is a non-profit organization that provides family-centered, home-like lodging and support services to families and their loved ones who are receiving medical treatment far from their home communities. We provide a 'home away from home" for approximately 1,000 families each year.
Description
Since its founding in 2006, Hospitality House of Tulsa has served over 4,780 families traveling to Tulsa for critical medical care. By providing home-like lodging, meals, prayer support, transportation assistance, and other support services, Hospitality House helps families that would otherwise be sleeping in a waiting room chair or their vehicle while their loved one is in the hospital. With 13 family suites located at 1135 S. Victor Ave. serving all 14 Tulsa-area hospitals, Hospitality House is dedicated to providing a 'home away from home' for families traveling in medical crisis.
