Recruiting Organization: Hospice Family Care

Our purpose is to provide comfort, compassion, dignity, and peace to terminally ill patients and their families through a holistic approach. The holistic approach addresses physical, spiritual, and emotional care utilizing professionally trained hospice care teams and specialized community resources. Our volunteers are part of that team!

The volunteer's role in hospice care is to provide direct support in the patient's home, assisted living community or group home, or skilled nursing environment with the purpose of companionship and caregiver relief.

Volunteers may simply listen to or hold the hand of a patient, assist in errands or light household duties, or provide respite for family caregivers in the patient's home setting. They may also serve by providing professional services such as haircuts, music therapy, or home repair/yard work. Participating in a special project like birthdays and holiday celebrations, gardening, knitting, crafts, etc. is another way volunteers can contribute. Our administrative volunteers work primarily in the hospice office or from home providing telephone and clerical support. Bereavement volunteers work hand-in-hand without Bereavement Coordinator, supporting families through the grief process.

All appropriate training is provided and paid for by Hospice Family Care and all incurred mileage reimbursed.
