The Center for the Integration and Advancement of New Americans (CIANA) Education Team is seeking volunteers for our virtual Middle School Afterschool Program for the 2022-2023 school year, Fall Semester. Volunteers will be great role models for our middle school students by supporting them in completing their homework, strengthening their academic skills, and leading fun virtual activities for students.


Position Description

Volunteer tutors will support the Middle School students by offering small group virtual homework help to students in Grades 6-8. Homework help sessions are conducted via Google Meets between 3-4:30PM. Volunteers may also have the opportunity to lead extracurricular activities between 4:30-6PM (to be discussed during meet-and-greet). Due to occasional schedule changes, volunteer tutors may also substitute for other volunteer tutors at times.


Qualifications

  • Passionate, committed, engaging!
  • Experience working with children is preferred, but not required
  • Background in mathematics and/or English is preferred
  • Stable internet connection
  • Gmail account
  • Volunteers must be available on Monday and Wednesday between 3-4:30PM; additional availability between 4:30-6PM is a plus but not required.
  • Volunteers must be 16+ years of age at the time of application
