Location:

Mission Statement
BHGHNY's mission is to help academically capable and motivated children from at-risk situations meet their full potential and become men and women for others by providing them with the safe and stable living environment, academic support, and guidance they need to finish high school, graduate from college, and become responsible and productive citizens.
Description
Founded in 1979, Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York (BHGHNY) is a regional and autonomous affiliate of Boys Hope Girls Hope International (BHGH), a non-sectarian, international non-profit organization founded in 1977 with operations in 15 U.S. cities and in 3 countries in Latin America: Guatemala, Mexico and Peru.
In 2009, BHGHNY expanded upon the national model by securing partnerships and residences with two prominent Brooklyn private schools-Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School (attended by our boys) and Cristo Rey Brooklyn (attended by our girls). Using the schools’ residences, BHGHNY is New York City's only college-access, urban boarding program dedicated to exclusively serving motivated, at-risk youth.
This academic year (2017-2018), BHGHNY is serving 83 scholars in residence: 38 boys and 45 girls. From Sunday evening until Monday afternoon, scholars participate in a variety of courses and programming that emphasize SAT and ACT preparation, academic improvement, increased literacy, social justice and service learning as well as personal enrichment.
