Mission Statement

We believe ALL people are employable. Pathways to Employment provides a sense of purpose, community and independence to developmentally disabled adults through employment, life and social skills training.

Description

Our Employment Skills Training initiative is designed to equip young adults with developmental disabilities with the necessary job skills to succeed in the workforce. Through hands-on experience at various businesses and volunteer organizations in the community, our program offers real-world employment opportunities to help clients develop their skills. For instance, at our pop-up stands and soccer refreshment stands, clients have the chance to participate in direct sales, whether it be handling cash transactions, greeting customers, or bagging items. They even have the chance to count and bag bulk items like dog treats. Beyond these sales experiences, our clients have also participated in a laundry business, dog walking service, and volunteered at the SPCA and Auburn Interfaith Food Bank. Our ultimate goal is to create a world where everyone who wants to work has the chance to do so, regardless of any disabilities they may have.

In 2023, we are expecting significant growth as we have joined forces with Therapeutic Language Clinic located in Fair Oaks, California. We plan to provide a coffee service to the clinic's customers and aim to establish a shredding business that serves local businesses in the same year. Given that our target group comprises individuals with high-intensity behaviors, our success rests heavily on our ability to recruit and train competent staff. This population, despite having the most pressing needs, remains largely neglected in our region but possesses great potential to contribute to both the workforce and the community.
