- A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
Cesar Chavez Day is a federal commemorative holiday celebrating the legacy of the civil rights and labor movement activist Cesar Chavez every year on March 31, 2023.
Join NRLT, the Watershed Stewards Program, and the California Conservation Corps for a morning in service to honor this legacy! We will work at the restored tidal wetland and working pasture at Martin Slough, an NRLT property. Come one, come all, and help remove invasive vegetation and improve critical rearing habitat for endangered salmon.
Be sure to wear long sleeves and pants, closed-toed shoes, and bring a water bottle! Snacks and hot drinks will be provided.

Mission Statement
The Northcoast Regional Land Trust is dedicated to the protection and economic viability of working landscapes, farms, forests, and grazing lands and to the preservation and protection of land for its natural, educational, scenic, and historic values. We work with landowners on a voluntary basis to promote stewardship of Northern California’s healthy and productive resource base, natural systems, and quality of life.
Description
The Northcoast Regional Land Trust (NRLT) conserves northwestern California’s ranches, farms, and forestlands, protecting watershed health, wildlife habitat, and the natural resources our communities depend on.
NRLT has permanently protected more than 56,000 acres throughout northwestern California. Most of this land belongs to private landowners and is not open to the public, but we invite you to read about these special properties by exploring the map found on our website. Go to ncrlt.org, and under the "What We Do" dropdown menu, select "Conserved Properties".
Want to get out on a public access trail? Visit our Freshwater Farms Reserve property.
We also host a free field trip program, Cows & Cattails, for local elementary school classes grades 3 to 5. In this program, students are introduced to the scientific method and answer the question, "can farms be part of a healthy environment?"CAUSE AREAS
