Every other Tuesday during the active volunteer season (April - October) the Arboretum hosts volunteer workdays open to the community. Each session is led by a staff member and focuses on gardening in a different area of campus. Activities will vary each week and can include but are not limited to planting, weeding, mulching, clearing invasives, and watering. The tasks required in each specific session will be announced monthly via our volunteer eNews email.

Registration is REQUIRED for this event. Please register via Eventbrite:

As an Arboretum volunteer, you can learn new skills, gain experience, and become a valued member of our volunteer task force. We are always looking for new team members and hope you will consider lending a hand!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Haverford College Arboretum is to steward the College's historic tree collection while fostering a connection between our 216-acre campus and those who work, visit, study, and reside here. Maintaining the health, diversity, and history of the tree collection honors William Carvill's original 1834 landscape design, while our educational programming ensures continued engagement with this unique and treasured asset.

Haverford College Arboretum encompasses the 216-acres of campus and has offices located in the Facilities Management Building. The Arboretum offers lectures, workshops, and guided campus tours to all who share a common interest in the preservation and maintenance of Haverford's treasured collection of trees. As a volunteer of Haverford College Arboretum, you will support the nation's oldest planned college landscape and connect with a community of individuals who treasure our 216-acre landscape.
