ORGANIZATION: Traveling Stories

Do you love reading and think it is important for all children to develop reading skills? Become a Virtual Reading Mentor and read one-on-one with a student in 1st - 3rd grade!

Reading Mentors will facilitate weekly one-on-one video calls with their assigned reader on our Virtual StoryTent platform. During these meetings, Reading Mentors will be asked to read with the child, as well as distribute Book Bucks for each book the child has read. The earned Book Bucks can then be used by the reader to purchase prizes on our online Prize Portal. These prizes will be delivered to the readers free of charge!

Note: If you are over the age of 18 and reside outside of the U.S. you won't be able to participate due to the background check we use are only for US Citizens.
If you are under 18 and live outside of the U.S. you can sign a waiver and you can volunteer with us. :)

About Traveling Stories

Location:

1240 E Plaza Blvd., Suite 604-430, National City, CA 91950, US

Mission Statement

Empowering children to achieve their dreams.

Description

Traveling Stories runs 4 reading programs throughout the year, each lasting 9 consecutive weeks. We need individuals that can serve children as reading mentors, help desk volunteers, captains, and greeters to help our programs run successfully. We are also looking for companies to run toy drives and in turn, donate toys that serve as an incentive for the children who join our reading programs. And finally, we are looking for corporate volunteers to help with annual projects that include our Walk 4 Literacy, various fundraisers, and ongoing toy mailings (groups love this!).
