We are looking for good people who want to give back to the community through service on the Board of Directors and supporting committees that oversee the workings of the nonprofit, Let's Walk. We seek people with skills in: fundraising, marketing, social media optimization and growth facilitation.
Let's Walk is a free service that brings trained volunteers to a qualified walkers home to provide the opportunity to go for a walk outside. All walkers are screened by a licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist and all volunteers have a background check, 1 hour training session and a photo ID badge. We are growing and our needs have outpaced our resources. We are looking for people who have experience with marketing, fundraising and growth facilitation to serve on our committees and possibly move to the board of directors. Our board has 10 members at this time.
Areas served include Summerville, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Huger, Ravenel, Kiawah, Seabrook, Mt. Pleasant, Daniel Island or any other area in Charleston, Berkeley or Dorchester Counties.

Mission Statement

"Enriching lives with activity" Our goal is to assist senior citizens with a walk outside, from their home, to provide health benefits as well as an opportunity for positive social interaction.

Description

Let’s Walk promotes health and wellness for senior citizens. We all know that walking is great for our health, wouldn’t it be wonderful to make a difference in your neighbors quality of life by simply going for a walk with them? "Let's Walk" connects qualified walkers with trained volunteers. The volunteer will meet the walker at their home and assist them with a walk in their yard or neighborhood. Let’s Walk helps them maintain the skills required to get out in the community and to engage with family and friends. Participation is open to everyone and the service is free. Each walker will be assessed by a therapist for the ability to safely participate in the program. Each volunteer will undergo a background check and a 1 hour training session. Let’s Walk provides a meaningful, easily accessible volunteer opportunity for service minded individuals to assist their neighbors. Both the walker and volunteer will benefit from the social interaction as well as the health benefits of walking. As of 09/07/2022, we have assisted with 173 walks and 100% of participants surveyed strongly agreed that the service contributed to their overall health and quality of life. We are looking to expand our service area, beyond Charleston county and add Berkeley and Dorchester counties.
