Hospice Volunteers play an important role as part of JSSA Hospice’s interdisciplinary team by supporting a patient and their family at end of life. Whether this is done remotely or in person, hospice volunteers enhance the experience of patients and families with their compassion and supportive presence. They provide in person visits from initial admission to our service, to the last days and hours of life by sitting with patients and families to ensure they are never alone.

Although we are always looking for every type of hospice volunteer, this opportunity is for community members who are willing to sew, knit or crochet flag inspired blankets for our "We Honor Veterans" program. The program is a collaboration between the National Hospice and Palliative Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Its purpose is to care for and honor those who have served when they reach end of life.

As part of the program, we recognize Veterans with a "Pinning Ceremony" where their military service and sacrifices made by the Veteran and his/her/their family are publicly recognized. They receive tokens of appreciation, and one of these is a small, flag inspired blanket made in red, white and blue.

Please consider helping us recognize the enormous contribution Veterans make, with your time and talent!
