Pioneer Days Festival

Our Pioneer Fest is a fun, free, outreach event for the whole community. There's a variety of opportunities for volunteers to serve, from set up, to engaging with the general public, to tear down. We are hoping to welcome 400 people to our community festival so that everyone can have fun learning about the history of where we live.

3 Shifts

  • Sat May 06, 2023 - morning / 08:30 AM to 10:00 AM
    Set up: Put out tables, chairs, supplies, and set up canopies
  • Sat May 06, 2023 - 09:45 AM to 02:00 PM
    Supervise a pioneer craft or activity such as soap carving or clothes washing
  • Sat May 06, 2023 - afternoon / 01:45 PM to 03:30 PM
    Help take down canopies and put away tables, chairs, and supplies
  • NONE OF THESE DAYS WORK FOR ME, BUT I CAN STILL HELP

Our mission is to bring Tacoma's birthplace to life through interactive learning for elementary students and our community.

Description

The Job Carr Cabin Museum is a replica of Job Carr's log cabin, originally built in 1864/65, as the first permanent non-native residence in Tacoma. The Museum houses interpretive historical displays and artifacts from Tacoma's early days. Educational history programs and tours are provided for school children, educators, history buffs, community residents and visitors to our city.
