Volunteer Chaplains at United General promote healing of body, mind and spirit through direct care and advocacy for the spiritual and emotional needs of those whom they seek to serve including patients, visitors and caregivers. This work includes:
- Providing direct spiritual care for patients, families and PeaceHealth caregivers
- Demonstrating a spiritual presence to all people that is compassionate, accepting, respectful and sensitive.
- Working collaboratively as a member of the health care team and with other healthcare professionals for the benefit of patients, families and staff.

Every day, volunteers of different ages and talents can be seen throughout the Medical Center, offering their support in various roles. - Peacehealth asks that all volunteers commit to at least six months of volunteer work. Chaplain shifts are flexible, generally one 2-4 hour shift a week, Monday-Friday.
