AccessHealth volunteer services is dedicated to managing the recruitment, placement, and retention of volunteers and to promote community understanding of its needs and services.

Scope of Service

AccessHealth volunteer services is established to supplement the services of and extend the best possible to our patients, their families, and visitors.

Objectives

To provide community service by providing opportunities for community youth and adults.

To develop cultural diversity within Volunteer Services Program.

To foster and promote health literacy to improve the quality of life within Fort Bend and Waller County communities.

To foster and promote interest in health care careers, both medical and paramedical, in the youth of community high school and colleges.

Description

Fort Bend Family Health Center, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit health provider established in the community in 1975. It provides primary care services in the Fort Bend, Wharton and Waller communities. The center is the only provider, in the area, of sliding fee scale health care services for people who are uninsured. Services provided include prenatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric care, as well as mental health/substance abuse and dental services. FBFHC has onsite pharmacy and lab services, and a 24-hour on call physician and provides in-patient care. The "Shot Express" program provides open access immunizations. HIV testing and counseling services are available a well as medical case management and services for children with special health care needs. FBFHC also has a WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program, which operates in Fort Bend and Wharton Counties.
