2nd Annual Frenchtown Renaissance Community Event

We are seeking individuals interested in volunteering to assist with an outside community event. Divine Revelations Ministries, Inc. (DRMI) is excited and honored to host the 2nd Annual Frenchtown Renaissance event on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 12 noon to 4 pm at the Carter Howell Strong Park (623 W. Georgia St., Tallahassee, FL 32301). This unique event addresses the health and well-being of Tallahassee neighborhoods and has been approved by the Tallahassee Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) under the Greater Frenchtown/Southside special events grant.

The Frenchtown Renaissance community awareness and resource event is designed to ignite the mind, elevate the body, and nourish the spirit by focusing on three (3) major areas to enhance the health, safety, and economic stability of the Frenchtown community. This free family-centered event is open to the public and will headline Tallahassee native and Grammy Award-winning songstress Kendra Foster, renowned trumpeter Dr. Longineu Parsons & Musicians and Gospel Artist and songwriter Anita Franklin. The event will also feature Frenchtown and local entrepreneurs, food vendors, gardeners/climate specialists, community agencies, and potential employers; a panel discussion - Community Conversations: Voices of Our Mothers featuring mothers of children lost due to gun or other violence, survivors, TPD and Leon County Sheriff’s Department, mental health specialists and agencies that address these issues in our community, door prizes and giveaways. And let’s not forget, fun activities for kids featuring Tazzy the Clown and Tsuki & the Crabby Pants by Miss Bree.

This year’s event will also include a separate section, called the Street Corner Giveaway for those in need of clothing. The DRMI Street Corner Giveaway is a rent-free, premise-free, free pop-up store concept designed to give away clothing to the community’s homeless and needy. The original concept of this type of event was pioneered in Cape Town, South Africa. Residents in need are invited to visit this section of the event set up in men’s, women’s, and children’s boutiques to shop for free with dignity.

DRMI is a nonprofit 501c3 charitable organization with a mission to help all people to live more enriching lives, and contributions are tax-deductible. We accomplish our mission by offering secular (non-religious) programming, including bridging the generational and digital divide between youth and seniors through our renowned Geeks & Gramps Program; providing anger management, substance abuse/misuse, and other human/emotional development programs behind the prison walls and to returning citizens in six counties; and by providing emergency support to homeless and those in need.
