The YWCA's Working Wardrobe provides clothing for women of all ages at no cost. Volunteers will greet clients as they arrive for their one-hour appointment and assist them with the selection of clothing for their need and style such as a professional outfit for an interview or fashionable daily outfit to match their workplace culture. Volunteers will advise clients to help them select clothing that is appropriate and suitable to the client's personal style and workplace. At times, the client may not currently have a job but volunteers will assist them in selecting clothing to enhance their life in order to prepare the client for future work opportunities.
Wardrobe volunteers will work with women of all income levels, demographics, and clothing requirements so it is essential for volunteers to provide a warm welcome to the clients and display a non-judgmental attitude while working with clients.
In addition to serving clients, volunteers work in the sorting room processing donations. Donation items are examined and selected for placement in the Wardrobe as needed. Unselected donations will be processed in various categories and donated to other agencies that provide clothing resources to clients.
Volunteers are asked to make a weekly commitment and are welcome to choose a 2-hour time slot from openings at their convenience from Tuesday-Thursday 9 am- 4 pm.
