QCH with tagline

Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults aged 60 and above with volunteers in their community, creating intergenerational relationships in Western, Central, and Southeast Queens. The program also aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities.

Friendly Visiting volunteers must be 18 and over, provide 2 non-related references, be open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism, and consent to a background check. Volunteers can either call or do in-person visits the older adult upon approval.

We are currently in need of bilingual volunteers who speak: Spanish, Bengali, Creole, Cantonese, Tagalog, French, Greek, Italian, Hebrew, Romanian, and Italian.

Our clients reside in various areas of Queens, including: Long Island City, Astoria, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona, Maspeth, Middle Village, Ridgewood, Glendale, Rego Park, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Woodhaven, Richmond Hill, Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Jamaica, Hollis, St. Albans, The Rockaways and Broad Channel.

If interested, email us at volunteer@qchnyc.org. Help brighten an older adult's day!

Mission Statement

Queens Community House provides individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities.

Description

Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse neighborhoods of Queens. We serve residents of all ages, races, faiths, and ethnicities while supporting the viability of the borough as a whole.

QCH was formed in 1975 (as Forest Hills Community House) to help heal the wounds of a neighborhood conflict. Over four decades, our reach and breadth have grown; today we offer a broad network of comprehensive services at 25 program sites in 11 different neighborhoods in Queens, allowing us to impact individuals, families, and entire communities.
