This is an opportunity to lead a Visual Art Journaling class for seniors (in an Assisted Living Facility) who are looking for creativity and connection. Many of the participants have been struggling with isolation and depression due to the pandemic, and this group allows them to express their experiences in a safe and supportive community.
Volunteers with teaching experience are preferred.
All supplies provided. Set up and clean up required.
Demonstrate techniques, and invite participants to use their own ideas and approaches.
Share positive feedback with participants and encourage individual creativity.

Heart Art Healing teaches individuals to use art for self-reflection, self empowerment and healing. Heart Art Healing aims to provide services to groups and individuals experiencing grief, trauma, or crisis of any kind because we believe that art and creativity can be an essential part of the healing experience.

Description

Heart Art Healing offers therapeutic art workshops and programs to support mental health and well being. Heart Art Healing visits groups and individuals at correctional facilities, elderly facilities, private businesses, and private homes; activities are also organized for the general public to promote mental wellness for all. Heart Art Healing provides art programs that are trauma-informed and evidence-based. All of our programs include a combination of guided imagery exercises, individual exploration, and meaning making as well as an array of artistic mediums.
Through this reflective and creative practice participants develop unique creations and leave feeling empowered and better connected to self and to community. Each piece of art is filled with personal meaning and symbolism. This inspirational and enriching experience opens doors for hope and healing.
