Who We Are: Justice At Last is the only nonprofit law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area exclusively serving the legal needs of survivors of human trafficking. We provide clients with free legal services regardless of their age, sex, gender identity, abilities and equity needs, nationality or type of trafficking. We emphasize a holistic approach that empowers survivors to achieve justice on their own terms.

Board of Director: We are in need of volunteers experienced in serving as a Board member. The right candidate will be familiar with serving as a Board Director of a nonprofit, and comfortable with fundraising and being an ambassador for Justice At Last.

Join us and have the opportunity to impact social justice and help enhance the lives of trafficked persons. We are expanding and diversifying our Board of Directors, with a goal of being inclusive and ensuring members have a sense of belonging.

We are seeking candidates that are representative of the community we serve, have Board experience and a particular skill set, such as data analysis, event planning, finance, fund raising, human resources, marketing, or strategic planning expertise.

There is a requirement that the Board of Directors be residents within the San Francisco Bay Area. Board of Director terms are 3 years and there are 6 virtual or hybrid meetings per year, the 1st Saturday morning of every odd month. Responsibilities include:

  • Be an ambassador on behalf of Justice At Last and know, understand and support the organization’s mission: "To empower those who have been labor trafficked and commercially sexually exploited by providing access to free comprehensive legal services, advocacy and specialized trainings to help transform survivors’ lives."
  • Be on at least one Board committee and attend at least 75% of all the board & committee meetings and special events each year and be actively engaged in helping meet the needs of the organization.
  • Make an annual financial contribution at a level that is personally meaningful. Actively participate in one or more fundraising activities each year.
  • Stay current with all the facts upon which board members must base their collective opinions and decisions, including financial responsibilities.

Please email your resume and cover letter to opportunities@justiceatlast.org for consideration.

About JUSTICE AT LAST

Location:

PO BOX 566, SAN CARLOS, CA 94070, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to empower those who have been labor trafficked and commercially sexually exploited by providing access to free comprehensive legal services, advocacy and specialized trainings to help transform survivors’ lives. Justice At Last’s vision is for survivors of human trafficking to define justice in their terms, obtain justice, embrace justice and thrive through justice.

Description

We are the only independent nonprofit law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area exclusively serving the legal needs of survivors, regardless of their age, gender identity, nationality or type of trafficking. Justice At Last provides free legal representation that emphasizes dignity and is survivor-centered, culturally sensitive, trauma informed, and rights-based. Our specialization includes assertion of crime victims' rights, clearing criminal records, family law, immigration relief and identity theft recovery. While we have an office in San Francisco and in San Mateo our practice is mobile and we literally and figuratively often travel to where the client is already receiving services to save them time, money and to ensure they are in a space that feels safe and trusted.
