CNPS Yerba Buena Volunteer Coordinator and/or Volunteer Chair job description

Volunteer coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling, coordinating select events with various land managers
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for those events
  • Advertising those select volunteer events through various chapter social media:
    • Chapter email list
    • Chapter website calendar
    • Optional: post on local calendar websites
  • Coordinating events with other chapter members (Volunteer Chair, outreach and newsletter)
  • Tracking volunteer names and hours for those events
    • Regular reports of events and activities including project names, hours volunteers spent and milestones.
    • Sharing those reports/summary with the Chapter Annual Activities Report (CAAR) contact (usually chapter President or V.P.) and/or the Volunteer Chair
  • Depending on coordinators availability and interests it may also include:
    • Planning, organizing new events, including site selection, coordinating with land managers and advertising those events
    • Managing a volunteer database
    • Recruit volunteers and additional volunteer support

Volunteer Chair: "Chair" are simply CNPS members who have been nominated to the chapter board by the President and approved by the chapter board for any number of Standing Committees. Additional responsibilities include attending the majority of monthly chapter board meetings, voting on motions and matters before the board, coordinating with other volunteer coordinators and reporting on activities within their respective committee.
