YWCA housing facilities in South Seattle, Maple Valley, Issaquah, and Lynnwood are seeking volunteers to assist in supervising their kids activity spaces. Hours are typically between 3pm and 6pm weekday afternoons. Most of the kids in our housing programs have undergone many life changes, including homelessness. We strive to provide them with enriching environments that include access to computers, gaming systems, 3D printers (depending on location) and enthusiastic volunteers to engage with them.
Duties may include:
* Supervising activity space
* Assisting in the Tech Lab (computers, gaming, and 3D printing lab)
* Assist in activity planning, prep, and execution
* Help clean and sanitize space
* Assist kids with homework and projects
* Participate in the planning and execution of events
Experience working with kids and teens in a multi-cultural environment and Spanish speaking is a plus but not required. Ideal candidates enjoy working with a variety of personality types and cultures, take direction well, enjoy leading and assisting with activities, and are reliable.
Volunteers will be expected to commit to at least one 3 hour shift per week for a minimum of 6 months.
Application, references, background screen, and orientation required.
