Senior HR Policy and Manual Specialist (Volunteer)

GoodBot is seeking a Senior HR Policy and Manual Specialist (Volunteer) to help with HR policies for the GoodBot Team.
GoodBot envisions open, healthy, inclusive and democratic societies where our technology ecosystems promote constructive discourse, serve public interest, and foster our abilities to address the more pressing issues of our time. To succeed, this new digital ecosystem needs to foster new norms, governance structures, business models and incentives.
GoodBot aims to become a recognized leader in developing research on innovative approaches to tech governance. We are also building a strong pipeline of non-technologist stakeholders who are engaged in technology businesses, including students, business leaders, civil society organizations, policy makers and citizens who can speak knowledgeably about these topics and help move us towards a more fair, inclusive and people-centric technology ecosystem.
We also prioritize bringing global perspectives to conversations on humane and responsible technology to ensure that they are diverse, inclusive and reflect traditionally underrepresented voices and ideas. We aim to promote a culture of innovation towards developing new responsive governance frameworks that can meet the challenges of our time.
Responsibilities - The Things You Love Doing
- Collaborate with HR team to ensure GoodBot to be a pleasant and compliant workplace, and will focus specifically in
- Develop and ensure HR manual and policies are up-to-date and in line with LSL and related Acts.
- Ensure the policies and manuals are understood and implemented effectively.
- Train (communicate) and coach users
- Monitor and talk to hiring managers, employees, volunteers to understand how policies are implemented.
- Provide directions and inputs on what needs to modify.
- Develop an orientation package that fits GoodBot’s needs
- Support the volunteer orientation as needed.
- Provides backup to HR volunteers (if the ongoing backup is required, investigate whether there is a need to hire an additional volunteer)
- Participate in GoodBot and meetings and contribute HR insights as expected
Qualifications - The Things You Bring to Us
- Experienced in Recruiting or Talent Search, 5+ years
- Expert for Canadian Labor Standards and employees, volunteers-related laws and regulations.
- Passionate about GoodBot’s vision
- Excellent communicator and able to partner with internal and external stake-holers to develop effective policies and workplace
