Volunteer to Offer 1-on-1 Support Navigating Medicare Coverage

Do you have an interest in helping SMAA clients navigate their Medicare Coverage? With an upcoming SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) Counselor training coming up near the end of March, now is the time to be involved!

All 1-on-1 in-person counseling would be done after attending 3-day Basic Medicare Training and completing SHIP Online Certification Counselor Exam. Volunteer will offer unbiased support to clients to help them navigate the changes that can be made to their Medicare plans during their Open Enrollment Period. Volunteers can work at SHIP stations throughout York and Cumberland Counties with flexible hours to assist at any location.

*Proof of vaccination status is required for all in-person opportunities at Southern Maine Agency on Aging.*

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

Southern Maine Agency on Aging Volunteer Services provides opportunities to make a difference in the community through volunteer service. Volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, meals on wheels, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. We offer maximum flexibility and choice to our volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of the over age 55 volunteer to opportunities in selected imapct service areas to help solve community problems. RSVP volunteers receive supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where they are placed.
