Who we are

Remineralize the Earth (RTE) is a Northampton, MA-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization engaged in a variety of projects both domestically and internationally that promote the use of finely ground rock dust and sea-based minerals to restore soils. Through our education and outreach, projects, research, and advocacy, RTE facilitates a worldwide movement that brings together gardeners and farmers, scientists and policymakers, and the public to regenerate soils and forests around the world, increase the nutritional quality and yield of food, and stabilize the climate through carbon sequestration.

We work with local and remote volunteers on Basecamp and Slack. Our team is made up of federal work-study students as well as graduate students, researchers, experts and professionals.

Position Description

RTE is seeking an experienced Accountant/CPA to join our exciting environmental nonprofit. The Accountant will be advising the Executive Director regarding the tax code, creating financial reports for our quarterly Board meeting, putting together our IRS 990 EZ and MA PC forms for our yearly tax returns, and reconciling bank and other financial statements. The ideal candidate will be accurate, timely, detail-oriented, and communicative. We utilize Quickbooks Online for our accounting. A background in tax accounting is particularly appreciated for our nonprofit IRS and MA PC returns in May.

The time commitment is to create the quarterly financial report for us, reconcile checks monthly, and do our tax forms. We are looking for a time commitment of 3 hours per month or less.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
• Native English speaker or fluent (reading, writing, speaking) at a business level
• Excellent communicator, organized and engaged team-player
• Accountable and can work independently when needed
• Must have a computer or laptop with access to high-speed internet
• This position will be virtual
