Are you a fitness fanatic who is motivated to share your passion with others?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated VOLUNTEER Assistant PowerUp Coach to join our team!

ASO’s PowerUp program is a weekly, live online physical activity program for youth and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 1 (ASD1) aged 12-21. It’s a FREE opportunity for ASD1 youth to get moving and improve their mental, physical and social well-being in a supportive, accessible environment.

As a volunteer Assistant PowerUp Coach, you will assist PowerUp Coach with various duties like:

  • Participant recruitment and registration
  • Intake and feedback survey distribution and collection
  • General group data collection (how many participants join each week etc.,)
  • Helping motivate participants by attending and actively participating in the weekly classes
  • Managing the 'chat' feature during the virtual fitness sessions
  • Observing participants while the Coach is leading the session to make sure everyone is being safe
  • Encourage a team-based environment where PowerUp participants cheer each other on and support one other through the workout

Qualifications:

  • Must be available every Wednesday evening from 5 pm to 6 pm to assist the PowerUp Coach with the program
  • Ability to use online video platforms such as Google Meet, Zoom etc with ease and troubleshoot issues on behalf of participants
  • Experience in communicating with diverse communities and previous experience with ASD Level 1 youth/young adults is an asset
  • Ability to maintain and promote a calm, positive and motivational virtual environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Passionate about promoting fitness within the ASD community

The PowerUp group meets online every Wednesday evening from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m for 12 months
